VBACs are Possible with The Group

“I went to The Group and that was the first thing I asked,” she said. “Am I going to have an option to do this naturally?”

Stephanie wasn’t new to motherhood. In fact, after 11 years she was so excited to add a third child to her family! After delivering two children via C-section, Stephanie was determined to have a VBAC.

“I went to The Group and that was the first thing I asked,” she said. “Am I going to have an option to do this naturally?”

Because of Stephanie’s medical history, her team at The Group needed time to consider this option, but they were very open to the idea.

Dr. Day told me, after we spoke with a midwife, that we could definitely try a VBAC,” Stephanie explained. “At 38 weeks that was still the plan!”

At The Group, we have one of the highest VBAC success rates in the region.

“So at 40 weeks, I was induced and more than 24 hours of labor began,” she said. “The first day I was in labor Pam, a midwife at The Group, was with me the whole time and the nurses at Genesis were amazing.”

During that time, Stephanie said she prayed that her medical team would be guided to do the right thing for her and the baby, but she wanted to have a natural child-birthing experience.

“Beth, my delivery midwife, came to relieve Pam and spoke with my husband and the two doulas about our options,” Stephanie explained. “Beth recommended an epidural even though I didn’t want pain management. But, at that point, it allowed me to relax and allowed the baby to do her job.”

Now, Stephanie is a mother of three.

“Because I listened to Beth and everyone at The Group, I was able to have the birth I wanted,” she said. “My advice to anyone in a VBAC situation is to trust your medical professionals. They know what they’re doing. They’re going to support you. They’ll tell you the truth and keep you healthy. Just listen and be patient.”
